Imagine this: chasing waterfalls, hiking up to panoramic views, plunging into icy spring water… and then realizing you’re the only two people left in the middle of the forest…
Just you, the trees, and your overactive imagination. 😅
That’s exactly what happened to us at Hacienda Amelia — one of those rare places where time slows down, and nature feels alive in every direction.
Watch how beautiful this place is!
Hacienda Amelia
This hidden sanctuary sits at the foot of a mountain in Aurora, surrounded by nature so lush you’ll forget what Wi-Fi even feels like. The sound of flowing water follows you wherever you go — from the mini falls just a minute’s walk away, to the deep natural pool that feels like your own private forest lagoon.
Inside the resort, there’s a paved path to a viewing deck where you can catch sweeping mountain views (even when it’s raining, it’s stunning). And for the adventurous souls or the devout during Holy Week, there’s another prayer trail for reflection and a bit of cardio.
They also have a kitchen, so you can cook your own food — which makes it perfect for families or barkadas who love bonding over silog and coffee while it rains outside.
We stayed in a super affordable room with its own bathroom, surrounded by huts and picnic spots where you can chill between dips.
The water is freezing cold — but in the best way. Cold plunges are said to boost circulation, relieve stress, and even make you feel happier (trust me, it works after the first scream!).
And then came nighttime.
Our caretaker went home… and left us completely alone at the resort.
Now, being alone in a forest sounds peaceful — until you start hearing random noises on your nipa roof. I kept telling myself, “It’s just birds.” But at 11 PM, when you’re at the foot of a mountain… well, anything feels possible. 😅
Thankfully, after a full day of hiking and soaking in that icy spring water, we were out like lights. The cold must’ve relaxed every muscle in our bodies — we didn’t even notice when the forest started its night symphony.
